BIOCONTROL DE PODREDUMBRES RADICULARES DE AGUACATE

 

 

 

Las enfermedades fúngicas radiculares son un problema muy serio en cultivos subtropicales como el aguacate que están siendo introducidos progresivamente en la cuenca mediterránea. El aguacate (Persea americana) se ve especialmente afectado por Dematophora necatrix , el agente causal de la podredumbre radicular que causa las mayores pérdidas en nuestras latitudes. Los únicos tratamientos contra la podredumbre radicular por Dematophora en aguacate que han mostrado una respuesta de control parcial, solarización y suelos supresivos, sugieren la mediación de las bacterias en dicho control. Por lo tanto, el empleo de bacterias como agentes de biocontrol podría ser un tratamiento eficaz a incluir dentro del control integrado de este cultivo. En esta línea de trabajo pretendemos explorar el empleo de rizobacterias como agentes de biocontrol (especialmente las del género Pseudomonas) y profundizar en las bases genéticas y moleculares de los mecanismos de biocontrol, con el objeto de poder diseñar estrategias de control más eficaces mediante el empleo de estos agentes. Este proyecto se está llevando a cabo en colaboración con los Drs. José María Farré (EE “La Mayora”-CSIC); Ben Lugtenberg (IMP Leiden-Países Bajos); Cayo Ramos (Área de Genética-UMA); Rosa Pérez (IFAPA Málaga-JA), Fernando Pliego (Área de Fisiología Vegetal-UMA) y Carlos López-Herrera (IAS Córdoba-CSIC).
